The Visitors' and Linkage Programme plays an important role in the centre. The programme has been modernized and expanded into the Extended Visitor and Linkage programme (EVLP).

The EVLP is expected to carry out the following principal academic tasks:

1. Initiate new areas of activities in basic sciences through advanced schools and focused research workshops with an objective to enhance the research output of participants and also to help them reorient their research to selected frontier areas.

2. Encourage younger scientists (with PhD) to start work on challenging problems by sustained and substantial research support and Fellowships.

3. Add value to the quality of research work of PhD scholars (not only of the centre but from other places, in particular from Universities) through an effective and sustained linkage programme that allow exchange of students for research work between institutions.

4. Organise focused lecture series (a set of 5-10 lectures) by eminent scholars on advanced research problems mainly to help research students become aware of more challenging problems, and to provide advanced training in these areas.

5. Start a Visitor programme for college teachers (in the area of Physics) who would like to initiate research work in collaboration with faculty members of the centre.
